KENSINGTON WE CAN DISPATCH SAME DAY OR NEXT DAY NOW IN STOCK
Matt black, cast iron, case. Optional high level Fingerswitch manual rotary controls.
The traditional cast iron case features detail
seen in the architecture of many homes in the Kensington district of London.
The Kensington gas fire is compatible with most flue types including
conventional chimneys, prefabricated flues and block flue systems.
Control options, a manual rotary control with
integral piezo ignition concealed behind the dummy ash pan cover (charged extra).
Flue requirements:
Precast block flue system with a minimum internal
free area of 12500mm² Brick or stone flue with
225mm (9") X 225mm (9") minimum or175mm
(7") internal diameter.
Twin walled flue manufactured to BS715 with
a minimum internal diameter of 125mm (5").
Lined brick or stone flue with a minimum internal
diameter of 125mm (5") Chimneys should be swept
prior to installation and any combustible material
removed from the fire opening .
All flues must be properly installed having a
minimum effective height if 3 metres (9' 9")
Installation:
The fire must be installed by a qualified CORGI installer in accordance with the installation instructions.
Existing chair brick may remain in situ providing the minimum spigot clearance is met. Clearance above appliance to a combustible shelf which has a projection not more than 150mm (6"), must be at least 835mm (33") above the hearths top surface. For a deeper combustible shelf you will need to increase this clearance (see instructions).
Ventilation:
Purpose provided ventilation (air brick) is not normally required. However, the installer must take account of any other appliance fitted in the same room or space and the result of the spillage test. For republic of Ireland ventilation should be provided in accordance with IS813, ICP3, and IS327.
Fireplace requirements:
A non-combustible fireplace having a minimum opening 300mm wide, 505mm high and 80mm deep. The traditional 16"X22" opening is suitable.
The required minimum depth of the fire opening is 80mm however it may vary. This is due to the safety zone behind the fire having to be larger for flues that have previously used for solid fuel fires. Minimum depth for a new flue is 145mm. A 20mm spacer frame is available for shallower fireplace openings.
A non-combustible hearth must extend a minimum of 300mm (12") in front of the live part of the fire bed and have a minimum width of 680mm (26.8"). The hearths top surface should be 50mm (2") above the level of the surrounding floor or have a fixed fender of the same height around its perimeter.
